Arizona's renewable energy companies have at their doorstep a wealth of semiconductor talent. The state is the 4th largest market for semiconductor employment, with nearly 27,000 semiconductor jobs. This transferrable skill is a key resource as is the state's deep bench for management talent. Technology spin-offs like ON Semiconductor, Freescale Semiconductor and General Dynamics were berthed from Motorola talent. Arizona is home base for Intel's research and development on semiconductor packages. Intel is another critical source for key leadership in small-tech enterprises. Greater Phoenix is also a top producer of home-grown talent through Arizona State University - the nation's largest university system and largest producer of natural sciences and engineers in the country. Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona's largest provider of job training, is also located in the Valley of the Sun.
