Local Demand
The demand for renewable energy, particularly solar, is growing and Arizona is committed to fostering that growth. The state has a strong Renewables Portfolio Standard for its public utilities (15 percent by 2025). It also has the most aggressive distributed generation requirements (30 percent carve out). In addition, the Arizona Corporation Commission is actively developing a plan to build a robust transmission system designed to import and export renewable energy in Arizona. The state’s close proximity to California and Mexico enables broad distribution capabilities.
