Other Renewable Developments

In addition to a strong solar market, Arizona is committed to growing emerging renewable energy industries such as wind, biofuel and geothermal. Arizona offers an innovative environment of collaboration for these new industries. Companies here have partnered to develop an algae production system to produce ethanol. Arizona State University and Science Foundation Arizona have developed a partnership to leverage key investments on an initiative to produce a high-energy value biofuel in a project called "Tubes in the Desert." In Northern Arizona, Iberdrola and Salt River Project have teamed up on Arizona’s first utility-scale wind project that consists of 30 turbines. Whether it’s wind, solar or biofuel, Arizona is one to watch for growing the industries of our future.
